In Marry me in Bassiani, (LA)HORDE ventures into the fascinating world of the traditional dance repertoire of the Ensemble Iveroni, a Georgian dance company based in Tbilisi. The two groups met in 2018. (LA)HORDE invites the dancers on stage to embody this tradition with intensity: upright chests, rigid steps, striking displays of virtuosity. A wedding is underway, symbolizing a powerful ritual in which politics undercuts the festivities.
(LA)HORDE blends folklore and electronic rhythms, paying homage to the famous Bassiani night club, a bastion of freedom in the heart of Tbilisi. The symbol-laden set creates a dialogue between history and modernity, tradition and resistance. This creation examines the memory of gesture, its cultural roots and contemporary resonance.
Consistent with its boldness, (LA)HORDE explores new territory while pursuing its mission: to energize bodies and ideas. The result is a show in which heritage becomes grounds for invention and dance a burning act of transmission.
